The programs objective is to educate students about the Holocaust through examining the environment that allowed the Nazi Party to assume control of Germany, learning how the Nazi’s repressive, militaristic society led to World War II, identifying the methods the Nazi government utilized to carry-out its objective of conquest and genocide, analyzing the concepts of Hitler’s "Final Solution", identifying the dangers of militarism and totalitarianism, discussing the evils of prejudice and intolerance, relating the lessons of the Holocaust to situations in modern day society, and allowing the students to interact with original and reproduced items relating to the Holocaust.
The program begins with a presentation of the Nazi flag and its symbolism. Then a presentation of Hitler’s life and rise to power in the Nazi party. How the Nazis gained control of Germany and how they carried-out their objective of conquest and genocide is next. After that is a chronological presentation of the events of the Holocaust. The program then flows into the film "Night and Fog" and/or a discussion of evils of prejudice and intolerance and how current events mirror some events during the Holocuast.
