Fowler Gallery of Arms
The Fowler Gallery for Small Arms is named in honor of James D. "Jimmie" Fowler (1910-1989), a native of Newport News and an influential member of the local business community. Fowler's continuing interest in early American military and aviation history led him to amass a comprehensive collection of weapons. His wife, Jeanette Dyke Fowler, fulfilled his dream with a contribution that made the Fowler Gallery for Small Arms possible.
Dedicated in November 1991, this gallery for special collections perpetuates Mr. Fowler's enjoyment of collecting and offers future generations an opportunity to learn about and appreciate this important subject.
