The Virginia War Museum is offering the following interactive children’s camps.

Civil War Camp at Newport News Park

July 19-23, 2021

In the spring of 1862, Civil War armies stationed in what is now Newport News Park built fortifications, fought battles, and navigated the landscape, children will be able to learn about these soldiers and their daily lives by hiking, map-making, interacting with artifacts and features within the Park, and much more! Ages 8 to 15 are eligible to sign up. Those ages 12-15 will participate in an Officers’ Camp, focusing on leadership skills and more advanced activities.

Two five day sessions will be offered, June 28 – July 2 and July 19 -23, hours are 9AM to 4PM. The cost is $165.00 per camper. Before camp care (8AM – 9AM) and/or after camp care (4PM – 5PM) is available. The cost is $20.00 for Before OR After care and $35.00 for Before AND After care. There is a $25.00 discount on tuition for more than one child enrolled from the same family.
