 In 1992 the Vietnam War Monument was dedicated in Huntington Park, Newport News, VA. This Monument became a reality due to the dedication of the Vietnam War Monument Foundation, Vietnam Demo Team, VVA Chapter 433, Freedom Now of VA, Inc. Virginia War Museum, as well as many local and state dignitaries and our communities getting together.

By Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War and the 25th Anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam War Monument in Newport News, Virginia, Vietnam Revisited 2017 will Welcome Home our local Vietnam Veterans, thank all that made our local Vietnam War Monument a reality as we honor and preserve the legacy of service of our Vietnam Veterans, POW/MIA’s, their families and continue to educate all generations about the impact and sacrifices made during the Vietnam War.

 

HONOR, REMEMBER, GIVE THANKS

The Moving Wall: With joint coordination and cooperation of the Virginia War Museum Foundation, The City of Newport News, VA. and the Braxton-Perkins American Legion Post 25 are excited to announce the arrival of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall to the Peninsula. The Moving Wall will be on display in Huntington Park, Newport News, VA September 14-18, 2017.

Thursday, September 14:  Escorting The Moving Wall: Numerous motorcycle organizations will escort the Moving Wall to Huntington Park, Newport News, VA.  Assembling The Moving Wall: 9:00 AM Huntington Park, Newport News, VA. Volunteers will come together to experience this heartfelt opportunity in paying tribute to those who gave all.

Friday, September 15:  Opening Ceremony: The Moving Wall: 12:00 PM Communities are invited to join with local, state and federal dignitaries for this special ceremony which will include a fly over by the Air Force.

Friday, September 15: National POW/MIA Recognition Candlelight Ceremony: 6:30 PM Vietnam War Monument, Huntington Park, Newport News, VA and will end at the Moving Wall. Braxton-Perkins American Legion Chapter 25 Riders will host a National POW/MIA Recognition Day Run, to arrive at the Moving Wall for the National POW/MIA Recognition Candlelight Ceremony.

Saturday, September 16:  Honor Ceremonies: Veteran and Civic organizations, as well as private citizens, are invited to reserve time of their own to conduct a private ceremony, lay a wreath, say a prayer up to one hour. (note: this will not stop individuals from visiting the Moving Wall)

Saturday, September 16:  Three showings of the PBS documentary They were our Fathers

Saturday, September 16: Vietnam War Monument 25th Anniversary Dinner: 6:30 PM In Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam War Monument in Huntington Park, Newport News, VA. and 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War will be held at the American Legion Post 25, 7609 Marshall Ave, Newport News, VA 23605

Sunday, September 17: Closing Ceremony at the Moving Wall: 5:00 PM Join together to honor those that gave their all, our Dead, Captured and Missing from the Vietnam War.

Monday, September 18: Disassembling the Moving Wall. Join together to honor those that gave their all, our Dead, Captured and Missing from the Vietnam War.
