WELCOME

Dear Educator,

            I am pleased to introduce you to what the Virginia War Museum Education Department has to offer!  Our presentations are thematic in nature and provide students and educators with programs that meet multiple Standards of Learning requirements.  We achieve this by integrating visual arts, multi-media, hands-on learning, and critical thinking exercises.  These programs are offered on the museum's premises or at a site of your preference.

            Here are a few comments recently made about the museum’s educational programs:

A comment made by a middle school teacher on our Holocaust Program:

The subject matter is critically important and should be disseminated as widely as possible.
The Virginia War Museum is to be commended for its efforts in this area.

A comment made by an elementary school teacher on our Soldier's Heritage Program:

It [the program] was age appropriate and kept their interest.

Fees

At the Museum

In-museum programs are $5.00 per student (1 adult chaperon admitted without charge per 10 students)

Outreach

$100 per presentation

 

Docents

          Docents are always in need for educational tours and programs.  If you are interested in helping out the Education Department, be sure to get in touch with us.
